Avid horror fans and Japanese film buffs are dying to see the 2020 remake of The Grudge, which just hit theaters on Friday, Jan. 3. And while scary movie remakes are generally hit or miss (take Halloween as an example of a huge miss), the film has received overall positive feedback. From what I've heard, though, the ending is seriously satisfying.

And if you don't mind a few spoilers for yourself, here's everything you can expect for the ending of The Grudge. But beware: you might end up sleeping with one eye open tonight. I know I will.

The Grudge 2020 is an R-rated movie starring an array of A-listers, from Andrea Riseborough to John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Demin Bichir, Lin Shaye, and even Jackie Weaver. While many expected The Grudge to be a remake, it's actually a continuation of the original film according to Fortune, it takes place at the same time as the 2004 film in a New York City suburb.

A violent murder in Japan is causing strange happenings, cursing the lives of everyone involved. And somehow, the curse has made its way across the Pacific, all the way to East Coast America.

The filmmaking brain behind it all, Nicolas Pesce, told Fortune the movie was bound to be just as dark as the 2004 film. "There was just no way I was going to make an easy, fun Grudge movie," Pesce said. "It was always going to be this intense, brutalist sort-of nightmare."

WARNING: There are major spoilers here, so if you want to be surprised, stop reading now.

In the end of the film, the protagonist burned the cursed house down, according to a viewer on Reddit. The next day, she's preparing to send her son off to school, and gives him a long hug, processing all of the terrifying trauma (re: the curse and the little boy who was haunting them), which they had just experienced together.

While the mom and her son are embracing, viewers see her real son sneaking up behind them, as he waves goodbye to his mom. The camera suddenly cuts to behind the mom, and as she's finishing the hug. There, you see it's one of the ghosts. The ghost drags her down the hall, and it shows the front of the house.

There is no denying that sometimes, post-credit scenes can be the best part of a movie. So oftentimes, several minutes after a movie has ended, you can often find me still sitting in the theater, patiently waiting for any end-of-movie treats. It's not something I can say I'll ever grow out of.

However, I'm quite disappointed to say The Grudge 2020 doesn't have any post-credit scenes, according to Screen Rant. When the film cuts to an outside view of the house, that's the last scene in the movie. Seriously, don't bother staying while the cinema crew comes in looking to sweep up popcorn and trash.

The Grudge 2020 hits theaters nationwide today, Jan. 3 go see it, if you dare.
