Avengers: Infinity War adds Black Panther and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira – DigitalSpy.com

Avengers: Infinity War is shaping up to have the hugest cast of superheroes ever, and it just got bigger with the addition of The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira.

The actress who plays Michonne in the hit TV series will reprise her role as Okoye from Black Panther, reports Deadline.

Okoye is a member of the Dora Milaje, a group of elite, female warriors who serve as bodyguards to the ruler of Wakanda.

In this case that ruler is T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman), who came to the throne after his father was killed in Captain America: Civil War. He also serves as his nation's protector, the Black Panther.

We got our first good look at Gurira as Okoye over the weekend with the release of the first Black Panther trailer.

Joe and Anthony Russo's Infinity War centres around the villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his attempt to create the reality-altering Infinity Gauntlet out of the Infinity Stones that have slowly been popping up in MCU movies.

Gurira joins a who's-who of MCU characters in the movie, including fellow Black Panther stars Boseman and Winston Duke (M'Baku/Man Ape).

The actress will next be seen in Tupac biopic All Eyez On Me, playing the rapper's mother Afeni Shakur.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on April 27, 2018, in the UK and May 4, 2018 in the US.
