The Walking Dead 2020: Rositas New Years resolutions – Undead Walking

Rosita experienced a great deal of change in 2019. Between The Walking Dead seasons 9 and 10 she fell in love (a few times), was pregnant and had a baby. She also lost Siddiq, her daughters father. Now the threat of the Whisperers is greater than ever, so Rosita needs to be careful heading into 2020.

Rosita was in a great position at the start of season 10. She was raising Coco with the help of her boyfriend Father Gabriel, Cocos father Siddiq and Eugene, who was very involved in Cocos life before leaving for Hilltop. By the close of 10A, Rosita lost Siddiq and Eugene has gone to Alexandria, but she and Gabriel have been brought together after avenging Siddiqs murder.

Now that Siddiq is gone, Rosita is Cocos only living relative. We know Rosita is a capable fighter, and that she embraces her skills and enjoys hunting walkers. There is nothing wrong with being a mom and a fierce fighter, but she needs to think about Coco. When Coco is older she, like Michonne, can go kick butt as much as she wants. Right now, though, is the time to focus on her baby.

No one will argue that killing Dante wasnt a good idea, but the timing couldnt be worse. While Rosita wasnt the one who killed him, she is responsible for keeping the secret of what really happened. There is a chance that war with the Whisperers will overshadow what happened with Dante so that by the time anyone discovers what happened, it will be a moot point.

The problem is that secrets always have a way of coming back to haunt people later on. Gabriel killed Dante because he wanted to help Rosita. The fact that Siddiq was dead and Dante was still alive didnt sit well with either one of them, and now that Siddiq and Eugene are out of Rositas life this was Gabriels chance to really step up and show her how much he loves her and what hes willing to do for her.

Dantes death could lead to fallout from the others who might be hoping he can reveal useful information about Alpha and the Whisperers. Rosita has been through enough, so she might not be in a place to hear their concerns about it, and it could spark tension between her and the rest of the survivors.

Rosita has really come into her own over the years, and she was able to get back into fighting form quickly thanks in part to all of the help she had with the baby. Siddiqs loss will continue to impact her in different ways. Her grief might not manifest right away, and when it does, she will need an outlet for it.

There is never a good time to grieve in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Rosita might feel better seeing Dante dead, but that doesnt mean she isnt grieving for Siddiq. Unfortunately, with the Whisperer War bearing down on Alexandria there might not be an opportunity to grieve properly, in which case she needs to be able to channel her anger and sadness into her fight against the Whisperers.

Rosita has been through a lot and the hits keep coming. In 2020, she has a chance to honor Siddiq by protecting their daughter and helping to keep their home safe. These are things that Rosita excels at, but she needs to be careful. The stakes are higher than ever and she has to stay safe for little Cocos sake.
