The Walking Dead: How and When T-Dog Died | Screen Rant – Screen Rant

T-Dog (IronE Singleton) was an original member of Rick's group in The Walking Dead. Here's when he was killed off, and how it happened.

Theodore 'T-Dog" Douglas was in The Walking Dead from the start, but how and when was he killed off? Played by IronE Singleton, T-Dog was an original member of Ricks group in the AMC series. He was traveling with them when Rick (Andrew Lincoln) first woke up from his coma.

T-Dog, the character who was unwittingly responsible for Merle (Michael Rooker) getting left behind, fought beside Rick, Glenn (Steven Yuen), Andrea (Laurie Holden), Daryl (Norman Reedus), and Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) as they struggled to survive in Atlanta. He was therewhen it all began, and T-Dog accompanied them to the Greene family farm, where he assisted in the search for Carols daughter, Sophia. While not everyone was so lucky, T-Dog survived the conflicts that took place at the farm and made it to the prison, which became their new home for the entirety of season 3 and the first half of season 4.

So how did T-Dog die on the show? The character met a sad end in The Walking Dead season 3, episode 4, titled Evil Within. The events of the episode were set off when one of the prisoners let a group of zombies loose in the prison, forcing Rick and his people to deal with them. T-Dog was bitten on the shoulder trying to close one of the gates. Ignoring the bite as best as he could, T-Dog helped Carol (Melissa McBride) get through the zombies and protected her with his life, knowing that his time was almost up. T-Dog held the zombies back and urged Carol to leave him behind, since he had already been bitten. Later, Rick found the remains of T-Dogs body and looked upon them with disgust.

There was originally talk among the writers of Carol being killed off in the prison instead of T-Dog, but it was eventually agreed thatshe should live. Due to this decision, T-Dog died in her place. Thanks to T-Dogs selfless act, Carol survived to become one of the last two remaining season 1 characters on The Walking Dead. Though his importance was acknowledged by both Glenn and Carol, the impact of T-Dogs death was lessened by the fact that Evil Within was the same episode in which Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) died immediately after giving birth to Judith. Since Lori was Ricks wife, her death became most one of the talked-about moments of season 3. It easily overshadowed what happened to T-Dog, even though he too was a key part of the group.

T-Dogs character development received considerably less focus than characters like Glenn, Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Carol, Andrea, and several others, but even so, T-Dog was well-liked by viewers. He didnt agree with all of Ricks decisions, but similar to Glenn and Daryl, he was the kind of person Rick discovered he could count on when they were in trouble. Throughout the first two seasons, T-Dog was always around to voice his opinion and help out when he was needed. T-Dogs season 3 death cost the group a vital member of the core group. Its just a shame that The Walking Dead didnt give him more to do.
