The Walking Dead star pitches spin-off for their character – Digital Spy

The Walking Dead spoilers to follow.

The Walking Dead baddies don't tend to stick around too long on the show (well, unless you're a certain baseball bat-wielder named Negan). So one can hardly blame Ryan Hurst, who plays Beta in the post-apocalyptic drama, for trying to come up with inventive ways in which his character could "live on".

In the run-up to the season 10 finale next month, fans have been wondering how Daryl (Norman Reedus), Carol (Melissa McBride) and the gang are going to stop de-facto Whisperers leader Beta and his horde of walkers. Meanwhile, Hurst has been thinking way beyond that.

In response to AMC announcing that it's developing a new anthology-style spin-off called Tales of the Walking Dead, which will delve into the backstories of some of the original series' most popular players, the actor took to Twitter to voice that he's "got some ideas..."

Viewers already know a little about how Beta met villain Alpha (Samantha Morton), as well as the fact that he used to be a famous country music star, who went by the stage name Half Moon, before the outbreak occurred.

Fear the Walking Dead's Daniel Salazar even had some of his records at one point! So his history is already somewhat more intriguing than most.

There's also more recent things that could be explored, too, like how he and his best friend fled an overrun camp and took refuge in an abandoned hospital... where the latter got bitten, turned and roamed the halls before Alpha put him down and convinced Beta to skin his pal's face off and wear it to retain his anonymity.

Back in March, Hurst revealed that he'd "just had a meeting with [executive producer] Scott Gimple," which sparked conversation as to how Beta's involvement within the franchise might play out.

"There's a very exciting thing that may or may not happen that I cannot talk about," he said during a panel at Comic-Con Liverpool. Guess TWD lovers are just going to have to wait and see.

The Walking Dead's season 10 finale will air as a special episode on Monday, October 5 on FOX in the UK. You can also catch up on the show via NOW TV. In the US, the season 10 finale will air on Sunday, October 4 at 9pm on AMC.
