Rosita and Eugene might finally get together in Season 10B of 'The Walking Dead.'

Theres a new Season 10 promo for The Walking Dead out. The trailer is titled Spies and seems to hint at Negan revealing a spy in Alphas camp. I think its a head-fake. The show wants us to think that Negan has gone back to the Dark Side, but its much more likely that hes tricking Alpha and luring her into his confidence.

Negan will almost certainly turn on his new Whisperer family and help bring the lunatic cult down, tying up his redemption arc in the process.

Theres a lot going on in this short teaser. We see Carol and the King looking like they might get busyperhaps she comes to realize she loves Ezekiel after all once he reveals his cancer. I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black.

But the most galling, insane, utterly absurd moment of all is when we see Rosita and Eugene in the midst of what looks very much like a romantic kiss. Check it out:

Now I dont really know what to say about this other than . . . Rosita has terrible taste, apparently. She broke up with Siddiq so she could be with Gabriel? And now shes ditching Gabriel for Eugene? I just dont get it.

Of course, there are other explanations. If the Negan bit is just a feint, this could be also. Its like with corpsesif you dont show us the body, we cant say if theres been a killing.

This kiss is like thatif we didnt see it happen, it didnt happen.

Maybe its a dream or a fantasy of Eugenes? Or maybe he just did something brave and shes just very close to him after an embrace? Plenty of reasons they could appear to be kissing just to make us react and pique our interest.

For my part, I cant see how someone like Rosita could actually be with Eugene. His manner of speech and generally awkward behavior would drive her crazy. They might be good as friends but as lovers? Hes just too much, too overbearing, too hard to follow. Hed need someone on his level at the very least, and Rosita is not that someone. I mean, Abraham had a weird way of talking also, but he and Rosita had a lot more in common.

I guess well see.

The Walking Dead returns for Season 10, Episode 9 on Sunday February 23rd on AMC.

P.S. A reader reminds me of the Michonne / Ezekiel kiss that was teased for the first half of this season. That was also a head-fake. So take this with a grain or two of salt. Or more like a heaping spoonful.
