The Walking Deads Jon Bernthal is rumoured to be returning to the franchise and will supposedly reunite with Andrew Lincoln in his Rick Grimes movies.

Back in 2010, the 43-year-old made his first appearance in the zombie hit as Ricks right hand man, Shane Walsh.

After years of following the pairs turbulent friendship, the sagas hero ended up killing his best bud, who later appeared aa a hallucination in season nines episode five, What Comes After.

And it sounds as though hes all set for a return, according to We Got This Covered.

Sources are said to have told the publication that Jon will be making an appearance in the hotly anticipated movies, although not too much is known about his involvement.

They said: There are plans for Shane to appear in one ofThe Walking Deadmovies, probably the first one.

Were told that flashbacks will be used to jump back in time, meaning Bernthal will be invited on board to reprise his role.

They added: We dont know how large his part will be in the film, but presumably it would amount to an extended cameo at most.

As it stands, the Rick Grimes movies are in full swing despite the coronavirus pandemic casting uncertainty of the the TV industry.

When chatting with SyFy Wire, the series producer Greg Nicotero revealed what was happening behind the scenes while writers endured the lockdown.

He told the publication: From what I understand from Mr. Gimple, the script is well underway. Ive looked at a couple of early drafts, but I havent seen anything lately, but from what I understand theyre digging away at it.

One thing about this kind of situation is people that work at home You know, writers Theyre able to take advantage of this time, and its a good time.

Greg added: Theres going to be a lot of material thats going to be ready to go, because everyones getting scripts, and getting stuff just right to the point where they can get it ready before you start shooting.

The main series, however, has postponed the season 10 finale after the Covid-19 outbreak halted production.

The Walking Dead season 10 finale is expected to drop onto AMC and Amazon Prime later this year while Metro.co.uk has reached out to Jons reps for comment.
