A SUPER-OBESE student lost ten stone after being rejected by her childhood sweetheart for being overweight and now gets to turn him and her other bullies down.

Rachael Heffner, 25, from America, was a hefty 20st 5lbs at her heaviest, after years of consuming large portions of food and up to four big bottles of fizzy drinks a day.

She decided it was time to make a change after a friend rejected her because of her size.

In a bid to prove him and the others who mocked her wrong, she started cutting down on sugary drinks, halved her portion sizes and began working out at the gym.

After dropping to a svelte 10st 5lbs, she now gets chatted up at the gym, in supermarkets and even gets messages on social media.

Since shedding the weight Rachaels now turned down the same childhood sweetheart who shunned her, along with other bullies who now want to date her.

Rachael, a social media specialist, said: My initial motivation was to prove people wrong. In college I was rejected by a boy and I wanted to show him that hed made a mistake.

I liked him and he didnt like me, he made it known that it was because of the way that I looked and that he wasnt attracted to me because I was heavier.

He was the reason I started but after seeing the number on the scales go down it became really addictive and I knew I was losing weight for myself.

Now Ive lost half of my body weight, I get approached a lot I was once asked if I was married in a grocery store.

It happens on social media too, people message me on Instagram and friend me on Facebook because of how I look its definitely an ego boost.

Even the boy who rejected me has asked me out a few times, but Ive let him know that were just friends now and not romantic.

I also told him that he was the reason I started losing weight, which really shocked him and he apologised for what he said when we were younger.

But Im glad he rejected me, I actually thanked him for it, as he was the reason I was able to get to the size I am today and theres no point holding grudges.

Rachaels weight gain spiralled out of control following the tragic death of her mother in 2004 from cancer.

Her devastation led her to ignore advice about nutrition in favour of comfort eating.

She said: I was a little chubby when I was a kid, but after my mum became really sick and passed away I gained a lot of weight.

Since I was so young when she died, I didnt learn about nutrition from her and I was too set in my ways to listen to my dads advice about food.

I liked sugary snacks, sodas and potato chips, I was just eating large portions of food that was bad for you.

By the age of 20, Rachael had a body mass index over 50 the World Health Organisations highest level of obesity.

After small changes to her diet, she started working out with her roommate and eventually got into weight lifting which helped her lose an impressive ten stone.

Now she says former-school mates double-take when they see her because of her dramatic transformation.

Rachael said: People who I used to go to school with dont even recognise me now.

Whenever I see someone theyre always so surprised by how I look and are impressed.

I keep joking that Ill definitely be going to our 10-year school reunion because everyone will be astonished when they see me.

But after her extreme weight loss, Rachael was left with horrific saggy skin, which she says has held her back and leaves her feeling the same size she was at her heaviest.

She is now trying to raise $15,000 for excess skin removal surgery to complete her transformation.

Rachael isnt the first women to shed the weight to show a man what hes been missing.
