Although the show ended in 2018, it is worthwhile for fans to revisit the lives of their favorite vampire family. In the show's first season, viewers were introduced to many new characters and got to explore the Original vampire family in New Orleans, a town they helped build. However, there are many forgotten things fans should remember about the season that started it all.

In season 1, Niklaus was apprehensive about the idea of becoming a father and was distant from his family. Believing Hayleys pregnancy was the only way for Klaus to redeem himself, Elijah went to great lengths to changehis mind. In the episode Sinners and Saints, the audience can see Marcel and Niklaus fight. However, after being woken up after being daggered by Klaus, Elijah asks Marcel to step aside so he could fightthe Original himself. Elijah proceeds to say, If anyone is going to teach my brother a lesson, its me. This fight scene was intense and dramatic, but one of the most iconic scenes of season 1.

Hayley Marshall was first introduced to the vampire-verse in season 4 of The Vampire Diaries. Although the audience may have at times overlooked this character, her pregnancy and the subsequent birth of her child actually sets the plot for The Originals. Throughout season 1, audiences can come to realize how much of an important character Hayley is.

In The River in Reverse,"Hayley finds out that her parents were honorable leaders and originated from New Orleans. This was a moment was integral insetting the stage for the whole series.

Davina Claire was the talk of season 1.She was the one character everyone wanted to know more about, specifically due to her powerful access to ancestral magic through the Harvest. Davina was once Marcels weapon and although their relationship was formed on a guardianship, her power was the reason whyhe was able to control supernatural beings in New Orleans, making her his greatest weapon. Even though Davina Claires character developed throughout the seasons, this was an important part of her existence.

In season 1 of The Originals, Rebekah and Klaus relationship was far from perfect. It can be said that Rebekah hated Klaus for his constant torments and not letting her find love. Her hatred reached its peak in season 1 as eventually, she sided withKlaus' enemies. This shocked the audience as although the Mikaelsons speak highly of family, Rebekahs betrayal overlooked any bond they shared. This storyline should not be forgotten by fans as it shows how titillating the Mikaelson family dynamic can be.

The Harvest was a ritual the witches of New Orleans would undergo to fortify their powers and connections to the ancestors. Although the Harvest was deemed as important for the witches, most characters of the show, as well as the audience, may have been shocked to find out that it involved the sacrifice offour young girls. The series' normalization of this ritual may have led to fans forgetting this very important and chilling fact.

As a vampire with werewolf capabilities, Klaus often felt alone, hence why hemade an army of hybrids in season 3 of The Vampire Diaries. After creating his first successful hybrid, Tyler Lockwood, it would be expected that the two would have a good relationship, but this is far from what actually happens. In season 1's Bloodletting, after Tyler tries to harm Hayley, Klaus ensures Tyler is left feeling miserable, compelling him to think of himself as "nothing."

It's not secret that Klaushas immense power. In the season 1 episode The River in Reverse, Rebekah, Marcel, and an army of vampires can be seen attacking the hybrid. After they had seemingly won, Klaus showcased the extent of his power when his eyes changed color. He thenproceeded to effortlessly tear through his enemies with not much effort. When it aired, this rampage was a fan-favorite moment for the action and drama, and it shouldn't be forgotten.

In Dance Back From The Grave, Elijah and Hayley question Klaus on his intentions for his child. Klaus is angered bytheir implications that he would be a dangerous caretaker. Enraged,he bites his brother and flees the scene.

Although his bite didnt kill Elijah, Klaus had no shame in leaving him to suffer. This was a shocking moment, as although it is evident Klaus has a bad temper, fans never expected him to bite his own brother. Thisscene is crucial in the framework ofseason 1 as this placed a great setback in Klauss and Elijahs relationship.

Hayleys life is put in Klaus hands as she is captured by witches. She is poisoned in Fruit Of The Poisoned Tree ,putting both her and Hopes life in grave danger. Saved by Davina Claire, Hayley and the baby live.

After being attacked and discriminated against in New Orleans, witches are often the antagonists and their part in the poisoning of Hayley shows their desperation. Continually positioned to be the bad guys, this moment foreshadows the witches and their involvement as enemies of the Mikaelsons.

Camille OConnell first posed as a friend and counselor to Niklaus before the pair became romantically involved. However, in season 1, after heruncle sees thatshe is troubled by her brother's sudden change and death, the priest asks Klaus to compel Camille. This would come with the hope that she would move on and have a chance at a good life. This is an important scene for fans to remember as the plot could have drastically changed had she left.
