Vampire Diaries and Guardians of the Galaxy stars join new Netflix comedy – Digital Spy

The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev and Guardians of the Galaxy's Michael Rooker are the latest additions to new Netflix comedy The Out-Laws.

They are joining Ellen Barkin (The Man From Toronto), Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever), Julie Hagerty (Marriage Story), Richard Kind (tick, tick... Boom!), Lil Rel Howery (Free Guy), and Blake Anderson (Workaholics) in the star-studded cast.

Adam Devine, who will be leading the new film, is no stranger to comedies. He played Bumper Allen in Pitch Perfect, Mike Stangle in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Noah Ashby in When We First Met, and Andy Bailey in Modern Family.

Pierce Brosnan, of James Bond and Mamma Mia fame, has also been tapped to join the cast of the film.

The film will be directed by Tyler Spindel, who directed Netflix comedy The Wrong Missy, and is written by Evan Turner and Ben Zazove. It follows Owen Browning (Devine) playing a straight-laced bank manager who believes his in-laws are the infamous Ghost Bandits, who rob the bank he works at the week before his wedding to their daughter, who is the love of his life.

Adam Sandler's production company Happy Madison will be producing alongside Devine.

Rooker is best known for playing Yondu in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, the adopted dad of our favourite Star Lord, Peter Quill. He was last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, when he sacrificed his life to save Quill after the destruction of Ego's planet.

Meanwhile, Dobrev is famous for playing Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce in The CW's The Vampire Diaries. Her first acting role was in Degrassi: The Next Generation, and most recently she was the star of romantic comedy Love Hard.

No release date for the The Out-Laws has been announced yet.
