Rodriguez, who co-wrote theVampires vs. the Bronx screenplay withBlaise Hemingway (Playmobil: The Movie, The Settlers of Catan), tell us that after years of directing episodes ofSNL, he wanted to tell a more personal story. He continues:

"Growing up in the Dominican Republic I watched many adventure films with kids that didnt look like me. Moving to New York and experiencing the rich multiculturalism of the city inspired me to write a new kind of adventure story. Theres a lack of stories reflecting some of the communities of the city, especially those dealing with gentrification. Im excited for kids to hopefully see themselves represented on the screen as our heroes save their marginalized community."

The cast of Vampires vs. the Bronx includesJaden Michael, Gerald W. Jones III, Gregory Diaz IV, Sarah Gadon, Cliff Method Man Smith, Shea Whigham, Coco Jones, Joel The Kid Mero Martinez, Chris Redd, Vladimir Caamao, Jeremie Harris, Adam David Thompson, Judy Marte, Richard Bekins, and Zoe Saldaa.Rodriguez explains, "it was important for us to find the right people for the roles."

"When it came to portraying the neighborhood we wanted as many New York actors as possible. As a Dominican I was excited to work with so many great Dominican actors like Jaden, Kid Mero, Vlad, Judy and the newcomer Zoe Saldaa," Rodriguez adds.Saldaa has a brief cameo in the movie."It was a challenging shoot but our young trio of vampire killers Jaden, Gregory and Gerald made it look easy."

"Its very exciting to share this movie with the whole world on Netflix. To have a global platform and be able to tell a story with diverse heroes saving the day is a dream come true. My family and friends in the Dominican Republic will be able to see it at the same time as young kids in the Bronx. I hope it gets loud."
