The D&D Character Classes Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer Characters – Screen Rant

Granted the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer aren't living in a world of literal dungeons and dragons, but it's hard to imagine a saga revolving around the endless battle between good and evil that is closer to the grandeur and moral conflict that makes up the world of the classic role playing game, Dungeons & Dragons.

Buffy and her friends have gone to war against the forces of darkness, and although they've always won, they've taken some huge losses along the way. And of course, they've all developed into unique and formidable powers in this battle, with each one of them taking on specific duties that have caused them to transform into dimensional and complex warriors for good. So if the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer lived in the world of D&D, which character class would they each fall into?

The Sorcerer class of character in Dungeons & Dragons is a magic wielder who draws their power either from their own bloodline or from a gift. And since Anya was pretty literally gifted with the powers of a vengeance demon, it seems appropriate that she would fall into the Sorcerer class.

Anya has a silly, almost absurd exterior, but beneath all of her frankness and superficiality is an extremely dangerous and experienced demon. Anya may have lost her power, but her abilities were legendary, even among other vengeance demons, and it was interesting to see her take on her new powerless life and become a better person through it.

Theoretically Faith Lehane was meant to be a powerful warrior and a force for good. However, Faith was all too human, and her journey to becoming a hero was not without some enormous speed bumps. So in that sense, she seems like a perfect match for the Rogue class of character.

The Rogue can be good, can be evil, or can be anywhere in between. One thing is clear though, they are willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want, and the ends typically justify the means. Which is why Faith seems to be a pretty solid embodiment of the character.

Tara actually spent most of her life living in fear of what her innate magical power actually meant for her, because her family implanted the belief that she was inherently evil and demonic because of that power for her entire life.

However, Tara was one of the best and purest representations of magic in the entire Buffyverse, and her understanding and knowledge of magic was second to none. So that is why Tara seems to be a natural Wizard. The Wizards are magic wielders who have studied the world of magic in order to improve their skills.

Joyce Summers is actually one of the toughest nuts to crack on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, because in a world of magic, demons, and vampires, she is the strongest representation of true humanity in the series. So then, she seems to be the most natural fit for the Paladin character class in a strange way.

Paladins are holy warriors who have taken a sacred oath to fight for what they believe in. But Joyce isn't someone who believes in a traditional higher power. What she really believes in and fights for is Buffy and Dawn.

At the start of the series, Willow Rosenberg seemed like the least likely candidate to turn to the dark side. However once she became addicted to magic and lost the love of her life, Willow didn't hesitate to take all of her considerable power and use it to try to destroy the world.

And that's why Willow can really only fall into the darkest category of the Dungeons & Dragons magic wielders, the Warlocks.

Warlocks gain their power through a sketchy bargain with dark forces, and that certainly describes what dark!Willow did when she wanted to bring about the apocalypse.

Xander is truly the heart of the Scooby gang, and while he doesn't bring a lot to the table in terms of magical abilities and brute strength, one of his strong points is obviously his gift of gab.

Buffy has saved the world half a dozen times through her abilities as the slayer, but Xander actually managed to save the world by talking Willow down from insanity, and if that doesn't demonstrate his way with words then nothing will.

Of course that means that Xander's only option in Dungeons & Dragons character classes is the Bard, the character who charms people with his words, poetry, and music.

Luckily for the slayer and all of her compatriots, Rupert Giles is truly a jack of all trades. He dabbles in every aspect of demon fighting and mysticism, and he has on some level mastered them all. But the master that he truly serves is the slayer.

Not just Buffy herself, but the idea of the slayer and everything that she represents. Giles could fit into any one of the D&D character classes and become and extraordinary fighter or magician, but the best match for him seems to be the Cleric, because the Cleric is a holy fighter dedicated to his cause.

Dawn Summers now exists in the shape of a human teenage girl, but the reality that is glimmering beneath the surface is something known as the Key. The Key is some sort of primordial magic that is so astoundingly powerful that it can collapse every wall that exists between the dimensions of the universe.

It is a force that is closer to nature than anything else on this earth, which is why Dawn is naturally a Druid character class. The Druid is a magical being that derives it's power from nature itself, and it's connection with the forces of nature is astounding.

Seeing William Pratt before he became Spike is a sight to behold, because there isn't anyone in the world who seems less barbaric than him.

But once Spike became a vampire he decided that he was going to become the world's biggest badass, and what he desired more than anything else was a decent brawl. Spike isn't an artful fighter, and he really doesn't give a damn who he's even fighting, he just wants to kick ass and take names as much as possible.

His brutishness and bluntness is only right for the Barbarian class of character.

When she was still a freshman in high school, Buffy became the one girl in all the world who was chosen to fight the forces of darkness. And fight she did.

Buffy Summers is the absolute ideal of the Fighter class of character, because she has an enormous amount of natural power but she also tries to hone that power in any way that she can. Buffy doesn't take her strength for granted, and in order to survive and become the best slayer that she can be, she learns and masters every aspect of demon fighting that she possibly can.
