The show follows four centuries-old vampiric shut-ins - Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) - and their familiar, Guillermo (Guilln). They interact with the modern world and other supernatural creatures on Staten Island. From its inception, What We Do in theShadowshas been on the receiving end of rave reviews. Critics are in awe of the show for finding fresh perspective with a new crop of characters and frequently fleshing out their backstories to keep audiences engaged.

When What We in the Shadows first premiered, it foundGuilln's Guillermo attending to his master Nandor's tantrumsin hopes of becoming a vampire. But late in season 1, Guillermo discovers that he is adescendant of the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, which puts him in a dilemma about his identity. In season 2, Guillermo proves to be extremely talented in killing vampires, although he mostly uses his skills to protect his nocturnal housemates. In the season 2 finale, Guillermo leaves the vampires' residence tostart afresh withhis mom in the Bronx. But when he realizes that his formermasters have been lured into a death trap by the Vampiric Council, he rushes to their rescue. The episode ends with a thrilling cliffhanger as Guillermo manages to save his friends, but his identity as a vampire hunter is exposed.

Recently, during an interview with Paste Magazine, Guillnresponded to a questionthat asked if he wished to dig into Guillermo's descentin season 3. The actor responded in affirmative, stating that he is very eager to learn about Guillermo's lineage, and he wants season 3 to showcase more members of his family.

"That actually is a question I have myself. Which makes sense! Hopefully, the writers have thought about thatIm sure they have. But yeah, where do we get this lineage from? Where does this go? Do we maybe want to dig deeper into Guillermos past? Whos his father? We didnt see his father at the household when we saw his mom. What secrets are in the household? Where did they come from? Would love to get to know more of that in this season, it would be great. To even scratch at that would be great. I didnt even know he was going to be a Van Helsing. Anythings possible! It definitely keeps everyone on their toes."

Even without looking at Guillermo's family, season 3 will have a lot to offer once it arrives. As confirmed by EP Paul Simms during the show's NYCC panel in October, the new season willfeature several more mythical creatures like Gargoyles and Hellhounds.Additionally,some prominent recurring characters from the earlier iterations will reappear. The upcoming show will also touch upon Nandor's love life and sexuality,in addition to showcasing a whacky road trip that the vampires will undertake on their day out. Colin Robinson will celebrate his birthday, and the repercussions of Guillermo's chaotic vampire massacre will come into play.

The idea of What We Do in the Shadows navigating Guillermo's descent does seem like an exciting prospect for the show. But right now, after season 2's stunning revelation, season 3 needs to concentrate on restructuring the dynamics between Guillermo and the vampires. At the end of season 2, Guillermowas so frustrated with Nandor's disregard of his mortality that he chose to leave him. But when he discovered that his friends were in danger, he risked his life and identity to save them. Now the cat is out of the bag, and the vampires know that Guillermo isn't as powerless as they took him for. Therefore, the upcoming season will need to reconstruct the equations between the characters accordingly. That said, perhaps at the tail end of season 3, after Guillermo has decided on a direction for his future, What We Do in the Shadowsmay have him come across a family member who can guide him to learn more about his lineage in future seasons.
