Bingham Tabbed VaSID Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year and First Team All-State – Southern Virginia University News

BUENA VISTA, Va. The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) today announced the 2019-20 Men's Indoor Track & Field All-State Teams, with Southern Virginia University's Murray Bingham earning VaSID Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year and first-team honors.

The mid-distance star shined bright in his first season at Southern Virginia, punching the program's first ticket to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships while setting five program-records along the way. Bingham recently was named the program's first-ever Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year and All-CAC First Team in the 800m after winning the event at the CAC Championships with a program-record, and CAC meet record of 1:53.62. His impressive time ranked 13th in Division III. Bingham also served a vital role in the team's distance medley relay at the CAC Championships, winning the event with a time of 10:32.13 while setting a program record.

The Sequim, Washington, native also set program records in the mile run (4:21.76), the 4x400 relay (3:29.11), and the 4x800 relay (8:12.41). He earned his way to USTFCCCA Indoor South/Southeast All-Region honors in three events (800m, mile, and distance medley relay). He ended the 2019-20 indoor season winning the CAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week twice.

VaSID names 44 All-State teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
