Johnson and King Earn VaSID Women’s Lacrosse All-State First Team Honors – Southern Virginia University News

BRIDGEWATER, Va. The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) today announced the 2019-2020 VaSID Women's Lacrosse All-State Teams with Southern Virginia University's senior midfielder Hannah King and freshman attacker Alissa Johnson earning First-Team honors.

With the selections, King and Johnson become the first players in program history to be selected to All-State teams after locking in a perfect 6-0 overall record in the shortened season while Johnson becomes the first freshman to earn postseason honors.

In her final season with Southern Virginia, King finished second on the team in total goals with 20 and total points scored with 29 bringing her career statistics to 71 goals and 95 points while leading all midfielders in scoring in her 2020 campaign. The Highland, Utah native played in all six games this season amassing 29 draw controls while bringing in a team-high 23 ground balls and showed off her defensive skills, causing eight turnovers.

Johnson finished her first season as a Knight leading the team in goals with 25 and total points scored with 33. Following her first outing for the team, the Salt Lake City, Utah native earned CAC Player of the Week after scoring five goals and one assist in the 17-12 comeback victory over Virginia Wesleyan. Johnson finished her season collecting a team-high 44 draw controls while bringing in 17 ground balls and forcing nine turnovers.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
