Before it became an iconic TV series, Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a 1992 movie, and there's only one major bit of casting crossover. Whedon boasts many memorable projects on his resume, ranging from beloved but sh0rt-lived series like Firefly to blockbuster films like The Avengers. Above all else though, Whedon will probably always be best known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired for five seasons on the WB, then two more on UPN. Both networks eventually merged to become The CW.

Buffy was a massive hit, spawning a spinoff in Angel that was almost as popular, running for five seasons of its own. But as most know, Buffy began life in the form of a feature film. Much more comedic and silly than the series, the 1992 Buffy movie was a mild box office success, but received bad reviews, and so much of Whedon's original script was changed that he infamously stormed off set one day and never came back.

With that in mind, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie is most often thought of as a separate entity from the far superior resulting TV series. Despite this distance though, one notable Buffy series regular actually made a brief appearance in the movie first.

On Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Seth Green played Oz for several seasons, a student at Sunnydale High School and longtime boyfriend of Willow (Alyson Hanigan). He also eventually became a werewolf, and struggled with the condition for a while before finally getting it under control. After Willow moved on with Tara, Oz left Sunnydale and the series during Buffy season 4. That said, his appearance in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie was literally a blink and one would miss it affair.

In the movie, Green appears for mere seconds as an uncredited vampire. He had filmed a bit more for the production, but it ended up left on the cutting room floor. A snapshot of his role did make the home video box though, amusingly. The deleted material he appears in has sadly not been made available on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie's DVD and Blu-Ray releases, despite the interest likely being there. Interestingly, Seth Green actually isn't the only actor to appear in both the Buffy TV series and Buffy movie, but the other instance isn't nearly as high profile. Actor Chi Muoi Lo played an unnamed vampire in the movie, and the one-scene role of Creaig Fong in the Buffy season 7 episode "Storyteller."
