The game Dying Light 2 is looking to be a very interesting and in-depth game world that promises an entirely new experience for players while building on the successes of the first game. The developers at Techland have been teasing some fun new game mechanics, added features, and unique concepts.

Yet theres a lot that hasnt been revealed, and certain things the developers have only teased or hinted about. Heres a look at everything we know about this zombie-based parkour game, and some intriguing possibilities for one of the most anticipated games of 2020.
It has been confirmed the game is coming out in spring of this year. This means the soonest the game will come out is March, or it could be as late as May. The developers havent gone into many specifics about the exact date, as they are still actively working on the game.

There hasnt been any discussion about pushing back the release date, so there isnt any reason to think theyll do so. Until more specifics are revealed fans will have to anxiously wait for spring to arrive and an exact date to be given.
Dying Light 2 promises a cooperative experience for up to four players, as three players jump into the hosts world. A few times, the developers have mentioned thoughts about creating scenarios that incentivize players to seek out teammates to progress.
This could mean anything from missions or areas that are much more difficult(but where having teammates would make them easier), or even scenarios where you literally need at least two sets of hands to do things. Perhaps the game could require a coordinated effort to unlock doors, turn on the power, or take down Volatile bosses, essentially making this content impossible for singleplayers.
The demos have revealed a ton of new parkour abilities, and with that comes some unique and interesting gadgets. The main character has been seen using pulley systems to go up and down tall buildings, a grappling hook to swing between areas, and even using a glider to cross large distances.
These, and other tools that might be in the game, can give players unique methods for traversing the landscape, evading zombies, and taking down enemies. It could also give human NPCS unique tactics for ambushing or chasing you down if they have access to similar tools.
Admittedly, the developers have stated that vehicle-based gameplay won't play as much of a role as it did in the DLC for the first game The Following. But there are some vehicles you will use in the game, as evidenced by the E3 2019 demo.

We probably wont be driving around in armored cars or tanks, but its possible that in addition to standard cars we could see pickup trucks, vans, or even motorcycles. Its all speculation at this point, but trucks would make a lot of sense in-game, considering the logistical nightmare of transporting large quantities of supplies without them.
Perhaps the biggest thing Techland has been talking about with their game is how the players choice and mission successes or failures will affect the story and the world. Demos have displayed brutal regimes rising to power as the player sides with them, or the streets turning to anarchy as the player starts siding with the black market.
The fact that mission failures will also affect things is an exciting concept. Hopefully itll all combine to give players a real sense of control and importance as their actions can make the world better for others or better for themselves.
While the developers have been talking a lot about how choices affect the world and story, not a lot has been said about how it affects the ending. Its possible all of your choices will culminate in different endings as certain factions rise or fall in power.
Granted, there is a possibility that the ending is largely static and your choices wont have much if any affect on how the story ends. But given the games focus on choices, the repeated claims of replayability by the developers, and how much of the world is affected by your actions, it seems likely there will be multiple endings in this survival game.
This game will be much, much bigger than the previous title. Developers have stated that the size of the map is about four times larger than the previous one, with many more layers to explore and unlock. The sheer amount of content will also be much grander if the demos are anything to go by.

With multiple factions to assist or hinder, large modern dark age cities to explore, and a twisting narrative that transforms based on your successes or failures, there will be a lot for players to do. The developers predict itll easily take 100+ hours to see and do everything.
Its possible that if your choices give or take away the power of certain factions it may also be possible to eradicate certain factions. The developers have stated that in addition to the main players of the cities vying for power will be smaller groups with their own agendas.
Its also been revealed through the demos that you can kill major characters of rival factions. With the ability to side with a specific faction, assassinate rivals, and affect the world through your actions its more than likely that you could take out some of the troublesome groups.
Dark Areas, or Dark Zones as some players call them, are coming back and are going to be bigger, badder, and much more terrifying than before. These buildings will be absolutely infested with zombies that are seeking to escape the sunlights rays.
The game promises more zombies, more dangers, and more rewards for those who willingly or accidentally find themselves elbow deep in a nest of zombies in a Dark Area.
It would be crazy for the developers not to introduce some new variants to the terrifying Volatile zombies. It's likely some of the old Volatiles will be making a comeback, but little has been said about what else might be lurking in the shadows.
The developers have also been hinting at a strain of the virus coursing through the main characters veins and how it grants them improved parkour abilities normal humans shouldnt be capable of. Theres no telling if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but its certainly exciting and could pave the way for interesting Volatile/human hybrids for the player to go up against.
