‘#Alive’ Netflix Movie: What You Need to Know About the Korean Zombie Thriller – Decider

Theres a new zombie apocalypse thriller in town. #Alive premiered on Netflix yesterday, and its already ranked at #4 on Netflixs Top 10 in the U.S. list. The South Korean sci-fi movie promises to be as electrifying as predecessors like Train to Busan, Peninsula, and Rampant.

While the trailer doesnt give away much in terms of what the story will follow, it does offer a terrifying portrait of the zombie apocalypse in #Alive. Cars topple over sidewalks and fire engines collide with mobs of people. A young girl rushes into the arms of her mother only to be bitten and infected by her. One gamer (Yoo Ah-In) watches this all from his flat, slack-jawed and horrified. Later in the film, all digital lines are cut, leaving him completely isolated from the rest of the world.

Who is in the #Alive cast? Is there a trailer? Heres everything you need to know about #Alive:

South Korean actor Yoo Ah-In is the lead of #Alive, starring as a gamer fighting for his life in the zombie apocalypse. Hes previously starred in Lee Chang-dongs recent thriller Burning, as well as the historical drama The Throne and the Korean series Six Flying Dragons. Park Shin-hye plays the female lead in #Alive. Along with breakthrough performances in Stairway to Heaven and Tree of Heaven, shes famous for her singing. The series also features Lee Hyun-Wook, Jeon Bae-soo, and Oh Hye-Won.

While both #Alive and Train to Busan are both South Korean zombie thrillers on Netflix, the pair are not related in any other way. There is no narrative connection between the films. There is, however, a sequel to Train to Busan that was released in August. Its called Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula, and it was recently released in US theaters. Peninsula hasnt been released on Netflix yet.

#Alive is an action-packed thriller following a gamer who fights for his life while the zombie apocalypse rages outside of his flat. While he plans to lock himself up in his apartment, all power lines in the city are cut meaning he cant access any of his friends online, his games, or connect with the outside world.
