CDC Offers Guide to Survive Zombie Apocalypse and Other Natural Disasters – Complex

Its good to be prepared for all outcomes no matter how unlikely. As a result, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offered up some tips on how to survive a zombie apocalypse.

What began as a tongue-in-cheek campaign turned into a pretty useful guide for surviving the undead. Like any other emergency, the CDC suggests one create an emergency kit that could last a few days. This kit should include essential items like a gallon of water, nonperishable foods, medications, bedding, hygiene products, first aid supplies, etc.

Next, you should pick a place to evacuate. You and your friends and family (who arent zombies)need to agree on a place to regroup in case the creatures start to storm your house. This evacuation plan should also include protection measures to stop the zombies from trying to devour your brain.

Although this list of steps is a joke, the CDC feels like these tips could actually be useful for a real natural disaster. For example, Texas was bombarded by an unprecedented snowstorm last month. This fit of bad weather knocked out power gridsand caused other technical issues that led to death. The CDC believes that if citizens had a proper plan and supplies, more lives could have been saved.

You may laugh now, but when it happens youll be happy you read this, the zombie survival guide reads. And hey, maybe youll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for arealemergency.
