Dad arrested outside ex-partner’s home in Leeds armed with Zombie knife and Rambo knife – Yorkshire Evening Post

Andrew Semeniuk was in possession of a Rambo knife and a Zombie knife during the disturbance at the flat in Meanwood.

Leeds Crown Court heard Semenuik targeted the property with another man on November 8 last year.

His former partner was out shopping at a supermarket at the time but their 13-year-old daughter was at home.

Nick Adlington, prosecuting, said the youngster was on the phone to her mum when Semeniuk turned up and began shouting outside the front door.

The youngster looked out of the window and saw a green-handled Zombie knife on top of a bin.

Zombie knives earned their nickname as they mimic weapons frequently seen in horror films, particularly "zombie apocalypse" movies.

They are regularly marketed as collectors items.

Coming in bright colours and emblazoned with words like "zombie killer" and "slayer" the large knives look far more intimidating than a normal knife.

Semeniuk picked up the weapon and put it in the waistband of his trousers.

The defendant and the other man then began walking around the outside of the property as the child described to her mother what was going on.

The mother called police and officers arrived at the property and arrested Semeniuk.

A large Rambo knife was also found hidden in a bin store outside the flat.

The defendant was searched and found in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

The court heard that Semeniuk had argued on the phone with his partner the night before the incident and she had berated him about his ability as a father.

Semeniuk, 31, of Winrose Drive, Belle Isle, pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a blade in a public place and possession of cannabis.

He has served a prison sentence in the past for a firearms offence.

The mother provided a victim statement to the court, stating: "I genuinely feel he will try to kill me."

Shila Whitehead, mitigating, said Semeniuk pleaded guilty to the offence at an early stage.

Semeniuk was jailed for 18 months.

Judge Simon Batiste said: "The facts of this case are particularly worrying.

"The Zombie knife can only have been brought to maximise the fear.

"You attended the property with someone else intending to cause maximum fear."
