Fear The Walking Dead Introduces Zombies That Are Actually Scary – Screen Rant

The Fear the Walking Dead season 6 midseason finale just introduced zombies who are scarier than anything that's appeared on any of the three shows.

Fear the Walking Dead has found a way to introduce zombies who are genuinely scary. Due to a production delay that occurred during the coronavirus pandemic,Fear the Walking Dead season 6, episode 7 served as themidseason finale, even though it was the following episode that was supposed to fill this role. Nonetheless, it managed to offer a big new addition to The Walking Dead lore.

In Fear the Walking Dead season 6, episode 7, Damage from the Inside, a mysterious attack on the Pioneers convoy separates Dakota (Zoe Colletti) from Strand (Colman Domingo) and his men. As a result, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Charlie (Alexa Nisenson) are sent to find her. The two become trapped with Dakota in the home of a taxidermist named Ed (Raphael Sbarge), who takes it upon himself to protect Dakota from Virginia (Colby Minifie) by any means necessary. Later, Ed is accidentally killed in a struggle, and Morgan (Lennie James) is eventually revealed to be the person who attacked the convoy. Afterward, Morgan decides to take Alicia, Charlie, and Dakota back to his new base, much to the frustration of both Strand and Virginia.

The zombies that appear in Damage from the Inside are unlike the undead that normally appears in any of the three Walking Dead shows. Whats different about them is that they were altered by Ed, who used his skills as a taxidermist to change their appearances. He fixed ram horns and antlers to some of their heads to serve as horns, stitched a few of their eyes shut, and made other efforts to adjust their looks. The reason for this is that Ed wanted to make sure these zombies were frightening enough to ward people away from his home.

Ed successfully created The Walking Deads scariest zombies. With eyes popping out, horns, exposed jaws, and more, the zombies look like true monsters, which is what exactly the look that Ed was apparently going for. The main characters running into zombies experimented on by a taxidermist was an unexpected direction for the show to take, but even so, it felt like a good, fitting move.

After all, zombies belong in the horror genre, so it makes sense for Fear the Walking Dead to keep looking for way to make their zombies look gruesome and horrifying. With The Walking Dead universe being ten years old now, its easy to understand how creating truly gross zombies who can still shock viewers would be hard to do at this point. However, the spinoff series is showing that its capable of mixing things up. Just last season, Morgans group had to deal with something completely different in the form of irradiated zombies, and now Fear the Walking Dead has delivered yet another unique take on the zombie formula in season 6.
