Frankie Edgar Steps In To Fight The Korean Zombie On Short Notice – MMA Insight

Frankie Edgar has helped the UFC out on short notice by agreeing to fight The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jun at UFC Fight Night 165 in South Korea on December 21st.

The Answer had been preparing for his bantamweight debut against Cory Sandhagen in January, but hes scrapped that plan in order to save the day for the UFC against TKZ at featherweight on just over two weeks notice after Brian Ortega was forced out of the fight due to a torn ACL.

Edgar is coming off a featherweight title fight against current champion Max Holloway, which he lost by unanimous decision.

That was Edgars third attempt to try to win the 145lb title over the years and had come after winning three of his previous four fights in the division, defeating the likes of Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez along the way.

As for The Korean Zombie, hes coming off a 58 second TKO of Renato Moicano back in June, which helped him get back in the win column after suffering a stunning last second upward elbow knockout loss to Yair Rodriguez in November of last year.

In total Jung is 2-1 in the UFC since returning from a lengthy spell doing compulsary military service in his native South Korea, and now hes getting a chance to compete in front of his home fans.

Ross launched MMA Insight (previously FightOfTheNight.com) in 2009 as a way to channel his passion for the sport of mixed martial arts. He's since penned countless news stories and live fight reports along with dozens of feature articles as the lead writer for the site, reaching millions of fans in the process.
