KISS Zombies #2: I Was Raised By the Demons, Trained To Reign as the One! – Comic Watch

Laila, Crusher, and Hank find themselves cornered by a zombie horde and stumble upon the members of KISS. Gene being Gene wants to know why they have been disturbed, well Gene, hold on to your shoulder pads because business is about to pick up. As they attempt to find a way out to safety, the little ha-ha moments also start to pick up. Peter, finding an escape door, and then being asked by Hank how did you know about this, responding, Peter says our bodyguards used it to whisk special guests in and out. Once again, folks, its a KISS comic and that is why they will always be a fun read. As the battle ensues, Peter and Ace find weapons and just brutally maim zombies and Buchemi does an awesome job capturing the feel of Peter cutting a head off, and Ace sending a splintered baseball bat into the waiting eye of a zombie. Gene and Paul come up with a plan, and I must say, this is where this issue makes its money. Gene has Paul take the group to the bus as Gene makes noise going up a set of stairs. As the lyrics to God of Thunder start coming up in and out of the panels, we see Gene running full bore to get away from the gang of the undead. Turning the next page, we see the Demon leaping off the building yelling the chorus to God of Thunder. Awesome!

KISS: Zombies really stands out amongst other KISS comics from the past. I cant help but return back to KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park, as a kid seeing it on television was mind-blowing, and this was in the eighties and without make-up. Even as an adult, I get all giddy and excited watching it, and that is what this book seems to do. I dont get chills, but I get excited and eager to see what adventure the pages will send me on. Ever since seeing KISS meets the Phantom of the Park, Ill admit, I read KISS comics in their voices from the movie. Sacks and Buchemi make these characters feel larger than life and have you completely sell you on KISS saving humanity from the zombie population.
