Marvel Zombies: The End of the World Is Blade the Vampire’s Happy Place – CBR – Comic Book Resources

Marvel Zombies has brought together a group of survivors to battle the undead for survival, but one hero is having the time of his life.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #2 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Leonard Kirk, Rachelle Rosenberg, & VC's Travis Lanham, on sale now.

The end of the world affected everyone in the Marvel Zombies universe. For Frankin and Valeria Richards, it devastated them because they lost their parents. For Spider-Man, it left him as a hero without hope and nothing left to fight for.

However, for one member of the group fighting to stay alive in the zombie apocalypse, it was paradise. Blade showed up at the end of Marvel Zombies #1 to save Peter and the kids, then joined them for their mission to find the Galactus Hive.

The heroes were trying to figure out where they were going but hadn't met up yet with the nonorganic robots that fought the zombies. That is when Peter mentioned that he is trying to keep Frankling and Val alive, and they are looking fortheir parents. He noted that Blade looked upbeat about everything and asked what he is getting out of this. Blade just smiled and explained why he loved the zombie apocalypse.

Blade mentioned that he was born with one purpose in his life. His only job and his only goal in life were to kill vampires. Now, he is out to kill the undead, and there is a lot of undead heroes walking around Earth thinking they own the place. Blade said he doesn't care about Franklin, Val, their parents, Peter, or the Sentinel known as Nana. He even said he doesn't think they have a chance at saving the world. Blade noted that his only goal is to kill the undead, he knows there will be many them where Peter and the kids are going, and he said that the entire world has become "Disneyland to me."

It seems interesting that Blade and Punisher met up in this issue of Marvel Zombies as these are the two men most known for their extreme vigilantism. Punisher kills criminals, and Blade just hunted vampires and other members of the undead. Punisher is now one of the nonorganic robot-style characters fighting zombies while Blade has kept what humanity he has and is still out killing all the undead creatures he finds along the way. It is what Blade was born for.

Blade's father was part of a secret society and sent his pregnant wife, Tara, to England. She ended up having her baby there but not before the vampire Deacon Frost fed on her as she gave birth. This event caused the vampire enzymes to enter her bloodstream and pass on to the bloodstream of her baby. This means that the child was born with the vampire's kiss but was never converted into a vampire, making him a Dhampir. The baby was born, but his mother died.

Eric grew up on the streets of London and developed an intense hatred of the vampires that killed his mother and changed him at birth. He joined up with a vampire slayer named Jamal Afari and learned what he needed. Changing his name to Blade, he devoted his entire life to hunting and killing vampires, using what he learned from Jamal.

Now, the end of the world has come, and the vampires are no longer the most dangerous undead beings in the world. The zombie virus has changed everyone from the Avengers and Fantastic Four to the X-Men, Hulk, and more into ravenous creatures, wanting to destroy everything in its path. Vampires have always fed on humans, so the fact that Blade now lives in a world where the former superheroes are feeding on humans makes him the perfect person to lead the fight.
