Rob Zombie Says It Was The Kiss Of Death While Recalling His Tough Decision About His Music … – Metalhead Zone

The legendary heavy metal musician and filmmaker, Rob Zombiehas celebrated the 22nd anniversary of his debut solo album Hellbilly Deluxe and admitted that his step out of a band to a solo career was the kiss of death.

As you know, the band Rob Zombie co-founded, White Zombie, broke up in September 1998, after releasing two multi-platinum studio albums and spending over ten years of a successful journey together. Announced that the good times were over and they were all moving in different directions, Rob took a huge decision years ago.

Began to work on his solo album in 1997, before the band had officially broken up, Zombie released Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International on August 25, 1998, throughGeffen Records.

The project, which reflected Zombies love forclassic horror films withheavy metalandelectronic music, reached the top five of theBillboard200 and sold over three million copies in the United States.

Rob Zombie has recalled the times when he first made the decision to take the solo path and explained his proper pride with his first solo album that succeeded globally. On his recent Instagram post, Zombie said that he had no idea if this crazy idea would work back then, however, he knew that he would rather be happy in a smaller band than unhappy in a big one.

Rob also admitted that breaking out on your own after being in a successful band is usually the kiss of death, yet, it all turned out just fine for him. He said the Hellbilly Deluxe achieved an increasing appreciationas he revealed that the record quickly went platinum, then double platinum, and finally triple platinum.

Damn its been 22 years since I released my first solo record Hellbilly Deluxe. I had no idea if this crazy idea would work, but I had to do it. I would rather be happy in a smaller band than unhappy in a big one.

Breaking out on your own after being in a successful band is usually the kiss of death. But it all turned out just fine. The record quickly went platinum.. then double platinum and finally triple platinum. Thanks to you all for making it happen.

FYI the platinum disc smashed on purpose. I guess the label thought it looked cool.
