Warning: spoilers forMarvel Zombies: Resurrection #3, in stores now!

When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth... but what happens when there's no more room on Earth, or in the entire universe for that matter? Why, the zombies will find another dimension to devour, and considering the infinite possibilities of the multiverse, there are a lot of options to consider. In the latest Marvel Zombies: Resurrection issue, the infected superheroes have announced their plans to head to the multiverse when they're done with their world, continuing a consistent theme where Marvel Zombies threaten to expose other Marvel universes to their all-consuming plague.

In the original Marvel Zombies, the undead invasion began with an infected Sentry arriving from another dimension, kick-starting everything by infecting their version of the Avengers. When an interdimensional teleporter was destroyed in battle, a zombie Reed Richards insisted on rebuilding it with the intent of finding another dimension to corrupt and make over in their image. He succeeded in tricking the Ultimate Reed Richards into opening a portal into his world, but the early invasion plans were thwarted bytheir Fantastic Four and later by Doctor Doom. Years later, the remaining zombie heroes were successful in rebuilding their teleporter which sent them to another Marvel dimension called Earth-Z, which they essentially infected and devoured. However, the infection was contained by the Watcher, who created a universal time loop by sending the Earth-Z Sentry to their original dimension to start the infection all over again, looping these few realities to prevent the zombies spreading further. The Marvel Zombies later attempted to invade the mainstream Marvel universe with secret agents infiltrating their government, which also failed, and other Marvel universes within the multiverse had different zombie invasions threaten to expose innocent worlds to unimaginable carnage and destruction. Despite all this, the Multiverse has yet to face a threat like the current crop of Marvel Zombies.

Although the Marvel Zombies are no stranger to interdimensional consumption, their latest incarnation has revealed the same song and dance, but with a new tune. In Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #3 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Leonard Kirk,a massive meta-spawn (zombie) army is found to be assembled in the Blackspring, the demonic dimension formerly known as Limbo. As an infected Silver Surfer explains to the surviving heroes the true origin of this space zombie virus, he also tells them their plans once they finish with Earth. Originally content with devouring worlds and galaxies, their plans changed once they added the powerful mutant-sorceress Magik to their ranks. With her control of Limbo, the zombies or "the Hunger Cosmic" are now able to invade any world in the multiverse. And when they've converted all of this Earth's metahumans, they will pick and choose where to go next.
