Two arrested as drugs and ‘zombie’ knife seized during raid – Liverpool Echo

Two people were arrested as police seized a knife and cannabis after executing a warrant at a residential property.

Officers carried out the warrant at the home on South Avenue, Prescot at around 9.30am on Thursday, June 9. They seized a large quantity of dried cannabis, as well as four cannabis plants, while a large "zombie-type" knife was also found in the property.

A 37-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Prescot were arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, and on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. They were taken into custody to be questioned and have both been released under investigation.

Knowsley Policing Superintendent Karl Baldwin said: "These two arrests were part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets. Drug Dealing is a blight on our community, causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of children.

"We are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality across Knowsley. Our work to bring these people to justice will continue on a daily basis and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.

People who have any information on the possession of, storage or use of drugs and weapons in their community are urged to contact Merseyside Police's social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police Contact Centre. You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
