Call of Duty: Vanguard will have a Zombies mode, made by Treyarch – Polygon

Treyarchs Call of Duty Zombies modes are usually limited to the games the studio develops itself, but thats not the case this time around. During Thursdays announcement stream for Call of Duty: Vanguard, Activision revealed that the Sledgehammer-developed game will feature a Zombies mode made by Treyarch.

Treyarchs latest Zombie content was for Black Ops Cold War, which it also developed. Unlike previous games, the Zombie content in Black Ops Cold War came as part of free seasonal updates to the game, rather than expansion packs that players had to pay for. On top of the extremely popular round-based maps, Treyarch also introduced a new mode called Outbreak that throws players and zombies together inside a massive open area where players have to complete a series of random objectives.

Treyarchs Zombies entries have also continued to tell an ongoing story, which just got a new update with the latest round-based map. Its unclear if the Zombies mode in Vanguard will continue Treyarchs Black Ops storyline or be something entirely separate.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will be released on Nov. 5. Activision and Treyarch hasnt announced if the Zombies mode will arrive when the game launches or sometime after.

At the same time Vanguard is being shown for the first time, Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard faces wide-ranging allegations that it maintains a toxic workplace environment that is particularly hostile to women. A lawsuit, filed by Californias Department of Fair Employment and Housing in July, alleges the company pays women less, subjects them to sexual harassment, and that perpetrators are not meaningfully punished.
