THE Walking Dead movie trilogy centred on Rick Grimes has remained shrouded in mystery since their announcement last year.

However, new reports have offered some insights into the dark plot lines that will dominate the spin-off venture.

According to We Got This Covered, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) will make a full recovery in a human encampment which seeks to find a cure to the zombie virus that has brought about the apocalypse.

Fans will remember how Rick Grimes exit storyline saw him mysteriously carried away in a helicopter, which was called in by Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh).

Picking up from his arrival, the films will supposedly track Rick discovering the brutal human cost of the reseatch.

Scientists will have a mad side that includes experimenting on unwilling human subjects and being a little bit twisted, as the series antagonists tend to be, the publication claims.

Furthermore, its said that something will happen in season 11 that leads to a number of characters heading out to go rescue Rick and help him escape from where hes being held.

When it comes to familiar faces heading off to track down Rick, Michonne (Danai Gurira) kicked of the process in season 10.

After discovering a picture of herself and Ricks daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming) carved into a phone, Michonne became convinced that her lover was still alive and trying to send her message.

With Judiths blessing she left the group in the middle of the war with the Whisperers with hopes of finding him.

The upcoming films dive into the zombie virus will have a lot of explaining to do after Executive Producer Robert Kirkman claimed that the cause of the pandemic was extra-terrestrial.

In a nod to the fallen satellite from the season 10 premiere, the author of The Walking Dead comics claimed that aliens were behind the deadly disease, which was engineered to bring Earth to its knees.

Whether this will be tackled on the big screen remains to be seen though.
