Two arrested in Melksham after zombie knife discovered in car – The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald

Two men have been arrested in Melksham after drugs and a large knife were discovered in a car.

Officers stopped a Ford Fiesta in Lowbourne shortly before 3pm yesterday (Thursday).

A Misuse of Drugs Act search was conducted of the vehicle, which led to a discovery of a large 'zombie knife', as well as a large quantity of suspected class A drugs, cash and other drug paraphernalia.

A 29-year-old man from Melksham was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of a knife blade in a public place and possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was taken to Melksham custody and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A 22-year-old man from Broughton Gifford was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife blade in a public place and possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He has since been recalled to prison.

PC Thomas Richardson said: These are serious offences and this was a positive proactive stop. We are pleased that a large knife has been removed from the community, together with a significant amount of suspected class A drugs. These drugs destroy lives and blight entire communities through increased crime and anti-social behaviour.

We will simply not tolerate this and will continue to make every effort to bring those involved to justice.

I would urge anyone who is aware of drug activity in their area to contact 101 you can be assured that any information you give will be treated with the utmost discretion.
