In Marvel Zombies: Resurrection, Forge claims a founding member of the X-Men is a better teacher than the team's mentor, Professor Xavier.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #1 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Leonard Kirk, Rachelle Rosenberg and VC's Travis Lanham, on sale now.

Inthe reboot of Marvel Zombies, the world looks very different than it did the first time Marvel told this story. Instead of almost all the heroes becoming zombies and battling each other, this book focuses on survivors who are trying to make it through the zombie apocalypse alive.

Among them is Forge, who appears to be the last of the X-Men. While Peter Parker seems only interested in protecting Franklin and Valeria, Forge has other plans. He leads them through the woods and back to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters.

Forge's idea is that they will be safer in a mansion like this than they will be wandering around the woods, trying to stay alive. However, his plans go wrong when the group is attacked by a zombie Nightcrawler and then has to face a more significant threat inside the mansion itself. The book even foreshadows this ultimate confrontation, when Franklin asks Forge when he was last at the school.

Forge says when he was last here, it was very loud. At the time, there was a new class of students and everyone was nervous because Professor X wasn't there. Hank McCoy, aka Beast, was in charge of the school on that day. Forge reveals he respects Xavier, but believes Hank was the best teacher at the school because he was best with the kids and the most patient. He even says Hank doesn't live up to the name Beast.

Later inMarvel Zombies: Resurrection, the group comes across some Deadheads living in the school, meaning they worship the zombies and bring living humans to the superhuman zombie they follow. Peter and Forgerelease captive survivors and face off with the Deadheads before the giant zombie Beast shows up and attacks. Forge, who just complimented Beast's patience and kindness, tries to reach out to him to talk about finding a cure when Beast kills him in cold blood.

Although Beast ultimately kills him, Forge wasn't entirely wrong in his assessment. Professor X was a manipulative, amoral mutant. He messsed with his students' minds and repeatedly put children in danger. Meanwhile, when Beast began as a teacher, he was the antithesis of Professor X's worst traits.
